Man charged with threatening mother with knife

CARMEL – A Town of Southeast man has been arrested on charges that he threatened his mother with a knife.
The woman called 911 to report the incident at their home at 3 Bloomer Road in Southeast on January 25.

When Putnam County Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene, the suspect, Connor O'Rourke, 22, had fled on foot. About an hour later, O'Rourke emerged from a wooded area and was spotted by a sheriff's K-9 unit, State Police and a State Police aviation unit.

O'Rourke was charged with menacing in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and harassment in the first degree, all misdemeanors.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Putnam County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond pending a future court appear.

If convicted of the charges, O'Rourke faces up to one year in jail and a fine of $1,000 for each charge.
