Mid-Hudson bridge crossings get more expensive

MID-HUDSON – Tolls on the five bridges operated by the New York State Bridge Authority go up on Monday morning, the first toll hikes on the system in a dozen years.

The cost of crossing the Rip Van Winkle, Kingston-Rhinecliff, Mid-Hudson, Newburgh-Beacon and Bear Mountain bridges will rise from $1 to $1.25 for E-ZPass customers and to $1.50 for cash customers. Commercial vehicle rates will also increase.

The increased revenue will offset rising operating costs as well as fund upgrades and maintenance work on the bridges.
