MONTGOMERY – State Police have identified the skeletal remains of a man found by a hunter on January 16 in marshy wetlands off Route 17K in the Town of Montgomery. The investigation concluded the remains were that of Stephen Croushore, 24, of Montgomery. He was reported missing last March State Police BCI Capt. Joseph Tripodo said the cause of death remains under investigation; however, it is not believed to be suspicious. “There is no cause of death as of yet; the investigation is still continuing and awaiting toxicology, although we do not suspect any foul play at this time,” he said. “We’re not quite sure of the family history of Mr. Croushore; we have not discussed his medical conditions as of now.” The remains were forensically examined by the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office, which was assisted in the investigation and identification procedures by Dr. Lowell Levine and Dr. Ida Titunik of the New York State Medicolegal Investigation Unit.
