Orange County lawmakers, the public, to discuss future of government center

Still closed

GOSHEN – The Orange County Legislature has set a meetings schedule to discuss consultant reports on the closed county government center in Goshen and their recommendations on how to proceed with developing county office space.

The county shut down the building last September after portions flooded and mold began to overrun it as a result of the two late summer storms to hit the region.

Physical Services Committee Chairman Leigh Benton said all options are on the table.

“Legislators and the public will get to comment on everything that was provided by the consultants so that everyone can get their point across and all legislators will have all information to the coalesce with a plan to move forward with,” Benton said.

The legislature has set two meetings – Mondays, January 30 and February 6 – for their members to discuss the proposals. There will be two public comment sessions, both on February 27, followed by another meeting outlining the county executive’s proposals and a vote by lawmakers on April 5.
