Monticello man arrested on attempted rape charge

MONTICELLO – Police have charged a Monticello man with felonies of attempted rape in the first degree and unlawful imprisonment in the first degree after he allegedly attempted to sexually assault a 22-year-old woman.

Monticello Police also charged Willis Bickham, Jr., 28, with misdemeanors of assault in the third degree and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Just before 7 a.m. on Friday, police responded to a residence in York Avenue after receiving a report that Bickham tried to assault the woman. He was arrested outside the home, arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
