| Occupy Kingston members offer assistance to troubled homeowners, tenants |
|
KINGSTON – A half dozen members of Occupy Kingston spent Monday afternoon knocking on the doors of city residents who face foreclosure to offer them assistance. Group member Sharon Froehlich said their drive is part of the “Nobody Leaves” effort by the Occupy movement, which started in Springfield and Boston and has since spread to Poughkeepsie. “We are bringing it home to Kingston to help our neighbors in our town,” she said. “We also consider ourselves part all the eviction and closing groups; we want to start here where we live.” Froehlich said they visited over two dozen homes that were on the pre-foreclosure lists to offer the residents advice on how to deal with their banks.
