|
MONTICELLO – A Monticello man was sentenced Monday to 15 years in state prison and 20 years of parole for sexually assaulting two girls. Robert Williams, Jr., 51, pled guilty to course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree and sexual abuse in the first degree, both violent felonies, and admitted to sexually assaulting two girls, ages six and seven, at a residence in Monticello. The acts took place from January through June 2011. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Williams faced 10 to 15 years in prison and following the DA’s recommendation, County Court Judge Frank LaBuda sentenced him to 15 years in prison. According to Sullivan County District Attorney James Farrell praised the work of the Liberty Village Police and Sullivan County Family Violence Response Team. That team, led by State Police, the Sullivan County Department of Family Services and DA’s Office, was established to “detect, apprehend and prosecute those individuals who harm children,” Farrell said. Williams will also have to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison and was ordered to stay away from the victims.
