HUDSON – Police are investigating a parking lot incident at Hudson High School just before 8 a.m. on Monday in which a vehicle struck another car and then crashed through a brick wall and into the faculty cafeteria. No one was injured inside or outside the school.

There was structural damage to the building, but did not affect classes, authorities said.

City Police in Hudson said the SUV, driven by Theresa Coons, 44, of Hudson, was driving from the north parking lot at the school to the main thoroughfare and pulled out from a parked position. She ran into the side of another SUV, operated by Jodi Keyser, 48, of Claverack, who was driving through the main school thoroughfare to the junior/senior high school at the time of the crash and had the right of way, police said.

After striking Keyser’s vehicle, Coons went over the curb, across a sidewalk, crashing into a park bench, trash receptacle and tree before slamming into the brick building.

Coons had a 12-year-old passenger in her vehicle, said to be her daughter. No injuries were reported in Keyser vehicle and minor injuries were reported to the two people in the Coons vehicle.

Hudson Fire Department responded along with Greenport Rescue. The SUV had to be towed from the scene.
