Putnam man accused of breaking into Patterson home

PATTERSON – A Patterson man was arrested on criminal charges stemming from his alleged involvement in a residential break-in during which a handgun was stolen.

On November 23, 2011, a Patterson homeowner told the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office that someone had broken into his home and stole jewelry and cash totaling about $15,000 and his licensed, loaded handgun.

Police investigated and on February 1, they arrested Timothy Baker, 27, of 19 Morningdale Drive on charges of first-degree burglary and second-degree criminal possession of a firearm.  He was arraigned and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond.

The stolen gun was recovered in Baker’s residence, police said.

If convicted, Baker could get up to 25 years in state prison.
