Bronx man arrested after Sullivan County bar assault

LIBERTY – A Bronx man has been charged with hitting a man in the face with a pool stick injuring his face and eye during a bar brawl in the Village of Liberty.

Village police were called to a fight at McCabe’s Bar on South Main Street early Saturday morning.  They stopped a car appearing to be fleeing from the scene and detained the driver, Antonio Sanchez, 23, of the Bronx, while police investigated.

Officers found a lot of blood and the victim, a 32-year-old Liberty man, who had been hit in the face with a pool stick. 

Sanchez was identified as the assault suspect and arrested for felony second-degree assault and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon.  He was also charged with being intoxicated and driving with a suspended license, leading police to charge him with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor DWI and excessive window tinting.

Sanchez was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
