Police arrest 14 for trying to get into bars with forged IDs

NEW PALTZ – Authorities Sunday announced the arrests of 14 people for trying to get into bars in New Paltz with fake IDs.

On Tuesday evening, January 31, members of the State DMV conducted an identification check at P&G’s Bar at 91 Main Street and at Murphy’s Bar at 107 Main Street in the Village of New Paltz. A total of 14 people were arrested and turned over to New Paltz Police.

Four were charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree and 10 were charged with criminal impersonation in the second degree, also a misdemeanor.

Twelve of the individuals were arrested trying to gain entry into P&G’s bar and two trying to enter Murphy’s. All defendants were released on appearance tickets.
