Engel opposes FAA’s “flawed redesign plan”

WASHINGTON – The four year reauthorization of the FAA passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 248-169. Congressman Eliot Engel (D-Rockland/Westchester) was one of those who voted against it.

His concern was for the New York/New Jersey/Philadelphia Airspace Redesign plan, approved months ago, which he said places over 100 additional flights over Rockland County on a daily basis.

“I continue to be outraged at the decision to direct even more flights over my district,” Engel said in comment on the House floor. “Talk about government arrogance, talk about not even caring about the people they affect.”

The bill now goes to the Senate for passage; the House-Senate conference report was approved by the House.
