Monticello man charged with felony insurance fraud

MONTICELLO – A Monticello man has been arrested on a charge of insurance fraud in the third degree and falsifying business records in the first degree, both felonies.

State Police and the State Insurance Department conducted an investigation involving a false claim. The investigation revealed that Gene Baggatta, 46, made an insurance claim of over $3,000. He falsified information in the claim, which was detected before any pay out being made by the insurance company.

Baggatta was arraigned and committed to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
