MONTICELLO – Village Mayor Gordon Jenkins will be seeking reelection on the Democratic line in the March 20 ballot after he handily defeated Monticello Village Trustee Victor Marinello.

In balloting on Tuesday, Jenkins received 244 votes to Marinello’s 152. There were 20 affidavit ballots and two blank ballots.

It will be a three-way contest.  Jenkins, who will also appear on the G-Man line, will face Republican David Rosenberg. He served as a village trustee and mayor in the past.  Marinello is expected to appear on the Conservative line.

Jenkins said keeping taxes down and growing the local economy are among his priorities.

“I believe in accountability; that’s what government is about,” Jenkins said after the primary results were announced.
