Dynegy files notice of Danskammer layoffs

TOWNOF NEWBURGH –Dynegy Northeast Generation has filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice with the State Labor Department following its announcement that it would sell its Danskammer electric generating plant in the Town of Newburgh.

The company plans on selling the property to ICS NY Holdings, LLC, which plans to raze the facilities, remediate any contamination and redevelop it.

The notice to the state announces the closure of the plant and the layoffs of 68 employees, all of whom are members of IBEW Local 320.

No layoff date has been announced.

Dynegy’s other power plant, the Roseton facility next door to Danskammer, will remain open and is being sold to another group, Louis Dreyfus Highbridge Energy LLC. Workers there are expected to be retained to continue operating that plan; however, they have been on strike for weeks since their previous contract expired.
