Hein requests special legislative session to discuss his proposal for Golden Hill

KINGSTON – Ulster County Executive Michael Hein has asked the county legislature to hold a special meeting to discuss his proposed plans to privatize the Golden Hill Health Care Center.

Hein said he wanted to explain all details and options regarding the future of the nursing home.

“Because I am committed to transparent evaluation of whether it be the LDC (local development corporation) option when it comes to Golden Hill or when it comes to making sure the legislature feels fully informed and has the opportunity to ask any and all questions that they may have,” he said. “This is an important time as we move forward and transition to a new structure that ultimately makes sure that taxpayers are protected.”

At the same time, Hein said the county needs to preserve the environment for the business community to prosper.
