Scenic Hudson RiverWalk Park opens

Park was dedicated during Wednesday ceremony

TARRYTOWN – The new Scenic Hudson RiverWalk Park was dedicated Wednesday along the Hudson River in Tarrytown, thus extending the Westchester County RiverWalk from Yonkers to Peekskill.

Scenic Hudson President Ned Sullivan said the project is yet another step in restoring the beauty of the riverfront in the region.

“This is part of a 25 acre brownfield site that is a former industrial site that has been cleaned up and where a beautiful public esplanade has been built,” he said.

Financing for the park was a collaborative effort including $3.5 million from the County of Westchester, $2 million from Scenic Hudson, $1 million from the Lila Acheson and DeWitt Wallace Hudson Valley Land Preservation Endowment and $1 million from 104-year-old Tarrytown resident Kathryn Davis through the Shelby Cullom Davis Charitable Fund and the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation.
