Molinaro captures third line on November ballot

POUGHKEEPSIE – Republican Dutchess County executive candidate Marcus Molinaro has won a third line on the November ballot in his bid to become the next county executive. He faces Democrat Daniel French.

Molinaro, a state assemblyman and former county legislator, is also backed by the Conservative Party and was just endorsed by the county Independence Party.

“I do believe the Independence Party sees that the experience I have gained over the last few years as a local official, a county official and serving as the assistant minority leader in the State Assembly has provided me a background necessary to lead this county into the future,” he said.

Dutchess Independence Party Chairman Dennis Zack believes his party could sway the elections.

“I think it could be a deciding factor in several races,” he said. “I believe I have about 10 Independence Party members who are running for various offices.”

The French campaign charged the leadership of the Independence Party “crumbled under Republican Party pressures,” to endorse Molinaro.
