Greene County man gets 12 years for having sex with child

KINGSTON – Prattsville resident Herbert Ferro, 43, was sentenced Friday, in Ulster County Court to 12 years in state prison and five years parole based on his guilty plea of having sex with a girl under the age of 12.  Ferro will be required to register for life as a sexual offender and an order of protection will be in effect until March 2029.

The sexual acts began in the summer of 2009 at a motel in the Town of Shandaken and continued through December 2009 at a private home in Prattsville.  Ferro was arrested on January 20, 2010, following an investigation by state police.

Ferro pled guilty in February to the violent felony offense of course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree.
