Couple arrested on felony drug charges

HIGHLAND – The URGENT task force has arrested a Highland couple on felony drug charges for allegedly distributing heroin in the Town of Lloyd.

Crystal Butt, 24, and Chezzy Calenti, 26, both of 18 Peepers Way, were each charged with criminal possession and criminal sale of a controlled substance.  They were arrested after officers made several undercover heroin purchases from the pair.

Late Thursday afternoon, March 24, they were arrested as they conducted a heroin transaction at Route 9W and Haviland Road.

There were two small children in their car resulted in both adults also being charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Calenti was also wanted for a New York State Parole violation.

Following arraignment, Butt was remanded to the Ulster County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond and Calenti was held without bail.
