Pepsi Beverages to keep HQ in Westchester

WHITE PLAINS – The bottling Division of PepsiCo, Pepsi Beverages Company, is going to keep its headquarters offices in Somers.

The state’s Empire State Development Corporation will provide PepsiCo with a $4 million grant to invest in the Westchester facility and PepsiCo, which will pump $9 million into the project, will retain over 900 jobs and create 22 new ones at its Somers facilities.

As part of the deal to keep the company in Westchester, County Executive Robert Astorino said the county’s Industrial Development Agency Thursday approved exemptions from sales and use tax on the purchase, installation and maintenance of building materials, furniture and equipment.

Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation President Michael Oates hailed the decision by Pepsi Beverages to stay in Westchester. “Pepsi has proven itself a global business powerhouse and a tremendous corporate citizen,” he said. “This is an important step in the relaunching of New York as the prime location for business.”

Governor Andrew Cuomo said the commitment to stay “illustrates our state’s appeal to global corporations.”

US Senator Charles Schumer said Pepsi’s decision “shows great faith in the Hudson Valley and could be just the start of new growth and economic development.”

PepsiCo’s worldwide headquarters is also in Westchester, based in Purchase.
