LaGrange gets court upgrade funding

LAGRANGE – The State Office of Court Administration has granted the Town of LaGrange $25,000 to upgrade its court offices.  The grant will allow for expansion of the currently overcrowded court office, including enhanced security to safeguard its employees, said Town Supervisor Jon Wagner.

The office size will be increased to accommodate expanded case file space because of an active court calendar. A secure pass through will be added to accommodate the receipt of bail and fine money in a more secure manner.

The state money will pay for construction costs associated with the expansion, furniture and security.

Wagner said prior state court security inspections have revealed a need for enhanced measures to improve security.

Previous grants from Albany have provided for furniture, installation of alarm systems, security barriers and metal detectors in the court.
