Internet car buyer ripped off

NEW CITY – A Cresskill, New Jersey man has been charged by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit with felony second-degree grand larceny in connection with the sale of a 2011 Mercedes Benz.

Ilya Igdalev, 48, agreed to sell the car to an Internet buyer in California. According to the charges, the victim paid him $93,950 via a wire transfer in December 2010. After receiving the money, Igdalev allegedly told the buyer the vehicle was no longer available and offered him a 2008 model instead. When the victim declined the replacement offer, Igdalev refused to refund the money.

He was arraigned in Ramapo Town Court and posted $93,968 bail, the amount of the theft.

If convicted, he faces 15 years in prison.
