Investigators look for clues in Filiberti murder

HYDE PARK – Investigators are combing every corner of Hyde Park and surrounding areas looking for clues into who killed Kathryn Filiberti, 18, the Dutchess Community College student whose body was found along a road last Saturday.

Town of Hyde Park Police, State Police and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s office have now been joined by New York City DEP Police, state forest rangers, State Park Police and MTA Police as they scour the area. The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office is also involved.

Hyde Park Police Chief Charles Broe said the State Police have provided equipment and manpower in specific area of the investigation.

“I don’t want to get into exactly what we are looking for at this point, but I feel we are making progress,” he said. “I’m not going to comment on what has been recovered and what hasn’t or what it is that the officers are looking for.”

Filiberti’s body was discovered along Greentree Drive just after noon on Saturday. Broe said they are following up on several leads.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 845-229-9340.
