Monticello woman charged with felony DWI, endangering welfare of a child, after accident

MONTICELLO – A Monticello woman has been charged with felony DWI and other charges after the car she was driving struck a 23-year-old woman who was walking her dog.

The pedestrian sustained injuries to her leg, face and hands and was transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center for treatment. Police administered field sobriety tests to the driver, Quaniqua Armstrong, 34, leading to her arrest for DWI. A chemical test at Monticello Police headquarters showed her BAC was .15 percent. She had a prior conviction for driving while ability impaired by the use of drugs.

At the time of the early Sunday morning incident with the pedestrian, Armstrong had a friend and her two children, ages two and five with her, resulting in Armstrong being charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She was also found to be driving with a suspended vehicle registration for a lapse of insurance.

She was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail pending a future court appearance.
