DRBC to hold local hearings on proposed natural gas regulations

TRENTON NJ – The Delaware River Basin Commission will hold three public hearings on its proposed natural gas development rulemaking.

One will be held in the Catskills, on February 22 at Liberty High School.  Another will be held the same day at Honesdale High School in neighboring Wayne County PA. The third hearing will be held on February 24 at Patriots Theater at the War Memorial in Trenton, NJ. All hearings will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The purpose of the proposed regulations is to protect the water resources of the Delaware River Basin during the construction and operation of natural gas development projects. The draft regulations establish requirements to prevent, reduce, or mitigate depletion and degradation of surface and groundwater resources and to promote sound practices of watershed management.
