Skartados concedes Assembly race

NEWBURGH – Thomas Kirwan of Newburgh is officially the state assemblyman in the 100th District. Former Assemblyman Frank Skartados of Milton called Kirwan and conceded Thursday afternoon.

Kirwan said Skartados was “very gracious” and offered his assistance when Kirwan gets to Albany.

Kirwan is no stranger to state government. He held that very same Assembly seat until Skartados defeated him two years ago.

Kirwan challenged him again last fall and the Appellate Division of State Supreme Court unanimously declared Kirwan the winner on Wednesday.

Skartados had considered appealing to the state’s highest court, the Court of Appeals. But, after a day of thought, he called Kirwan and bowed out.
