New Route 120 bridge over tracks opens

Officials cut the ribbon

CHAPPAQUA – A new bridge on Route 120 – Quaker Street – in Chappaqua, was officially dedicated Thursday, replacing the deficient structure that was built in 1930.  The new $20 million bridge, built by the State Department of Transportation, conforms to the hamlet’s architectural attributes.

State Assemblyman Robert Castelli said the structure is a welcome addition to the area.

“It’s in a relatively compacted area with a lot of commercial business in a little village, but more importantly, the bridge itself had been outdated and one of the more dangerous structures in Region 8 of the DOT’s statewide region,” he said.

The replacement bridge was constructed with 80 percent federal funds. It was opened on December 6.
