| Orange County Business Accelerator aids new business during recession |
|
NEW WINDSOR – The economy continues its attempts at recovery following the recession, but that has been to the advantage of the Orange County Business Accelerator at Stewart Airport. The facility, which has been in existence for two years, has exceeded its growth projections, said its Managing Director Michael DiTullo. “We’ve had people who have either worked at IBM or Dow Jones or some large pharmaceutical company or other firms that were either close to retirement, maybe being advised that they should continue retirement, they have been working on an idea a thought, so this sort of accelerated their thought process, and then knowing that we were here, that there was a facility that could manage their risk, also gave them confidence,” he said. The Business Accelerator is funded and operated by the Orange County Industrial Development Agency. DiTullo said if a business is a long term established one and looking for larger, permanent facilities, the Accelerator works with the Orange County Partnership to find a suitable location for them.
