First Cultural Heritage Week to be held by Ulster County

KINGSTON – Ulster County is going to hold its first Cultural Heritage week from September 18 to 25.

The week will include a number of events in Woodstock, Kingston, Saugerties, Olivebridge, High Falls, Phoencia and other locations.
The week will celebrate the county’s heritage and culture.

“Ulster County is alive with history,” said County Executive Hein. “We have a rich cultural legacy inherited from many generations. An astonishing array of sites, structures, and objects attest to Ulster County’s Revolutionary, Civil War, industrial, agricultural, and political past.”

On Wednesday, September 21, the grand opening and reception will take place for the “It’s Not Unusual Exhibit,” which will feature some of the unusual and surprising materials found in the Ulster County Archives. The exhibit will be displayed at the Ulster County Office Building, 2nd Floor Archives Gallery at 244 Fair Street in Kingston.

The National Register of Historic Places lists more than 160 sites in Ulster County alone.

Ulster County’s Tourism Bureau will be coordinating the week.
