Federal money to help fund Montgomery’s new wastewater treatment plant

MONTGOMERY – A $1.25 million federal grant will help pay for a new wastewater treatment facility to increase capacity in the Town of Montgomery.  The new system will increase capacity to serve more than 10 commercial properties and over 110 homes in the Neelytown Road corridor.

Congressman Maurice Hinchey made the announcement at Town Hall.

“As we get ready for the improvement of this economy, we need to be in the position to be generating jobs and upgrowing the economy by bringing in economic development, companies that are going to stimulate this job,” he said. “The solid waste management is important to do a number of things including securing the natural water supplies for Montgomery and Orange County.”

Hinchey said he will seek another grant from Congress next year to continue the upgrade process.
