New England man charged with giving teen obscene literature in library

Lockwood

NEW PALTZ – Police in New Paltz have charged a Keene, New Hampshire man in connection with an incident last month at Elting Memorial Library in which a 17-year-old girl was allegedly given obscene literature.

John Lockwood, 63, was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with the misdemeanor of obscenity in the third degree in connection with the August 16 incident while both were at the library.  The suspect was located by police officers in the library Wednesday after alert staff members recognized him from a previous incident.

Lockwood was released and scheduled to return to local court later this month.
