Wappingers Falls man charged with murder for killing girlfriend

WAPPINGERS FALLS – Authorities have charged a Wappingers Falls man with second-degree murder for the stabbing death of his girlfriend, Maria DelaPaz Ruiz Alvarez, 27, of Wappingers Falls.

Police located Gabriel Adrian Lopez-Perez, 27, over the weekend in Omaha, Nebraska. He was held for questioning and on Tuesday, police announced he has been formally charged with murder.

He will face extradition proceedings in the next few days. New York State Police investigators remain in Nebraska as the investigation continues.

State Police, Wappingers Falls Village Police and the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the case.

The victim was found stabbed to death in her Spring Street, Wappingers Falls apartment last Saturday.
