Aviation interest up at Sullivan International Airport

WHITE LAKE – Despite the continued weak economy, aviation activity at Sullivan County International Airport in White Lake is holding its own.  In fact, because of activities in the county, Sullivan Public Works commissioner Robert Meyer said aircraft traffic is up somewhat.

“We have traffic that is attributed to Bethel Woods. We have traffic that is attributed to some of the camps and recreational opportunities in the area,” he said. “So, despite the economic situation, that sort of commercial type traffic has been unchanged or slightly increased.”

The county last week received a federal FAA grant to rehabilitate a taxiway and ramps at the airport to improve safety.
