No increase in property tax level in Putnam County 2011 budget

CARMEL – The 2011 Putnam County budget being finalized by County Executive Robert Bondi includes no increase in the property tax levy, no new positions, no layoffs, no employee furloughs and no raises for elected officials.

Bondi’s budget is not due to the county legislature until next Tuesday, September 7, but he released highlights late Friday.

Other details of his spending plan include using $5.7 million in county surplus to balance it – the same as last year, and leaving $11 million in the general fund surplus, and anticipated sales tax revenue of $47.4 million.

Bondi is also urging the county legislature to build the Drew Lake Senior Center and fund $27,000 for a bike path patrol.

This will be Bondi’s last budget as he is retiring at the end of the year.
