Monticello home invasion under investigation

MONTICELLO – Police in Monticello are investigating a reported armed home invasion that occurred at 10 p.m., Thursday, September 2 at 6 Hammond Street in the village.

A 27-year-old Monticello man told police he was home in his apartment when someone knocked at the door. When he answered, a man burst in while armed with a rifle. The victim was struck in his head and sides.  The suspect demanded money at which point the victim struggled with the suspect. The victim fled the apartment and called police.

The suspect is a black man with a stocky build, wearing a long sleeve shirt and greenish pants.  He had a bandana or scarf over his face.
