| Labor Day weekend expected to big flying days |

STEWART AIRPORT – With Labor Day weekend marking the unofficial end of summer, people try to squeeze in their last getaway weekend of the season. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey anticipates about 5,000 people will use Stewart Airport at Newburgh. That airport currently has flights to Florida onboard Jet Blue; to Atlanta on Delta; Philadelphia on US Airways; and Detroit on Northwest. All have connecting flights to other cities. The traffic at Stewart pales in comparison to the three major jetports operated by the Port Authority. The agency estimates 660,000 passengers will use JFK, 420,000 will use Newark Liberty, and 290,000 travelers will use LaGuardia Airport. |
