Sullivan County receives over $1.2 million FAA grant for county airport
BETHEL – Sullivan County has been
awarded a $1.26 million grant from the FAA to rehabilitate the general
aviation apron and two associated taxi lanes at Sullivan County International
Airport in the Town of Bethel.
“The continuing upgrade and maintenance of the county airport is
critical to continued safety and operation of the airport,” said
Legislature Chairman Jonathan Rouis.
The existing pavements are in very poor condition and require rehabilitation
to enhance airport safety.
The grant will cover 95 percent of the total cost of the work at the airport
with 2.5 percent of the remainder being covered by the state and the other
2.5 percent – some $33,000 – covered by the county.
Sullivan County Airport is a general aviation facility maintained by the
Sullivan County Division of Public Works.
