Hall urges USPS to keep Bellvale Post Office open

BELLVALE – Congressman John Hall has asked the Postmaster General to reconsider his decision to close the Bellvale Post Office.  The local post office has lost its lease and while several local businesses are willing to host the facility, the Postal Service is considering whether to consider a new location or not.

Hall told the postal official a local branch is important to a community.

“I think it’s really important for many of our communities, especially smaller towns, not to lose their post office, because there are still people who don’t use email, there are still people who don’t use a computer, and I don’t think we should leave these services exclusively to private businesses,” he said.

Hall called the plan to shut down the Bellvale Post Office “ill advised.”
