Nursing home employee charged with stealing from resident’s debit card

CORTLANDT – An Ossining man has been arrested and charged with identity theft in the first degree, a felony, after an investigation into the theft o0f money from an elderly resident at the Bethel Nursing Home in the Town of Cortlandt.

Police said William Brownlee of 5 Redway Road in Ossining, who worked at the nursing home in the laundry/maintenance department, allegedly stole the resident’s debit card and fraudulently removed over $2,000 from various banks in Ossining, Elmsford and Peekskill.

Brownlee was arraigned and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of bail.
