Man uses coworker’s ID for student loans

POUGHKEEPSIE – State police arrested a Poughkeepsie man for identity theft, criminal possession of a forged instrument and grand larceny on Friday, May 21.

Rodney Wheatley, 53, used the name, birth date and social security number of a coworker to apply for three educational loans.   Wheatley received $35,000 and deposited the money into his own bank account.

Wheatley is in the Dutchess County Jail on unrelated charges and will appear in Town of Poughkeepsie Court this week.
