| Egg farm continues tradition of donating to food pantries |
|
HIGHLAND MILLS – Ace Farms is giving an ‘eggstrodinary’ donation to local food pantries – close to 25,000 eggs. The donation will help the 2.1 million New York residents who have begun turning to emergency food pantries all over New York State. Ace Farm has been doing this for a number of years and this year was able to give approximately 2,000 dozen eggs to the pantries at a cost to the farm of about $3,000, said co-owner Michael Grindrod. “We thought it would be a good thing to do in our community and there's a lot of people out there that need some help and we decided to help,” said Grindrod. “We've been doing this for a number of years now and we'll keep continuing as long as we can.” The eggs are donated annual at this time to coincide with Easter. Recipients of the eggs are highland Mills Food Pantry, Montgomery Food Pantry, The Food Bank of Westchester, the Monroe Food Book, the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe Food Pantry, the Central Valley Fire Department Food Pantry, the Union Presbyterian Food Bank and the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. |
