| Three arrested with counterfeit money they planned to spend at Woodbury Common |

ORANGETOWN – State Police and Secret Service agents have arrested three New York area men on charged of possession $3,400 in counterfeit $100 bills. Edgard Duche, 22, of South Richmond, Frank Vanegas, 23, of Woodhaven, and Giovanni Echaverry, 31, of Long Island City, were stopped for a traffic violation on the Palisades Parkway in the Town of Orangetown at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday. Duche was driving. Police found the funny money as well as $4,753 in real cash. The three told police they were headed to Woodbury Common in Central Valley to spend some of the illicit money. All three were charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree, a felony. Vanegas was also arrested on an outstanding NYPD warrant for criminal possession of a weapon. They were arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail each. |
