Town of Wappinger recycling center accepts branches, debris from snow emergency

WAPPINGER – The Town of Wappinger Recycle Center on Old Route 9 near Evans Elementary School and the Town Highway Department, is accepting debris from residents cleaning up from the recent snow emergency.

Town residents need to show proof of residency, such as a driver’s license to utilize the no-cost center.

Natural debris, such as tree branches, will be placed through the wood chipper, which residents may take for free for landscaping.  Other debris can be placed in the various recycle dumpsters.

The town board will assess the initial town damages at its Wednesday session and further discussing the provision of a roadside branch pickup from residents.  Branches and fallen trees on town property will be collected as the Highway Department finishes its cleanup processes.

The Town of Wappinger Recycle Center is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
