Neonatal Intensive Care Unit approved at new ORMC

MIDDLETOWN – Orange Regional Medical Center has received New York State Department of Health approval for a Level 2, 10-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) which will be available shortly after Orange Regional’s new hospital opens in mid 2011.

The NICU will be located within the maternity unit on the 6th floor of the new facility and will complement current perinatal services and full-time neonatologists offered in conjunction with Westchester Medical Center.

This facility will help serve the needs of Orange and Sullivan County’s rapidly growing population and demand for local NICU services.

Orange Regional expects the NICU to treat and care for nearly 600 babies a year, who need highly specialized care following complex pregnancies and deliveries.
