Yonkers man gets life behind bars in laundromat rape/murder

Maddox: Life
without parole

WHITE PLAINS – A 32-year-old Yonkers man is going to spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole for raping and killing an employee at a Yonkers laundromat and raping two other women.

Walter Maddox was convicted in a jury trial of killing Roberta Galicia on December 8, 2008 inside the laundromat.

He was also found guilty of strangling and raping a woman on June 30, 2008 in a secluded area of O’Boyle Park in Yonkers and of raping and choking another woman on August 31, 2008, in an apartment just a few feet from the same park.

“This defendant is a sexual predator and murderer whose sentence appropriately reflects the depravity of his crimes,” said Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore. “The overwhelming evidence, including irrefutable DNA matches in all three crimes, proved to the jury that Mr. Maddox committed the three rapes and murder.”
