Funding for Mount Vernon jobs center all but approved

WASHINGTON – The Mount Vernon Energy Jobs Incubator Center, which is designed to create green jobs and promote alternative sustainable energy, has been approved in the House Financial Services 2011 Appropriations bill.

Congressman Eliot Engel secured the earmark for the funding.

“In these hard economic times, job creation and retention is vital,” Engel said. “With an unemployment rate at unacceptable levels it is essential that we do all we can to help people find jobs.”

“With this federal funding, we can develop a strong Green Incubator program that will prepare out citizens for jobs and provide support for business within that rapidly growing sector,” said Mayor Clinton Young, Jr.

The full House and the Senate must approve the funding.
