Federal housing grants for homeless

HUDSON VALLEY – The US Department of Housing and Urban Development has granted almost $200,000 to four agencies to provide critically needed housing and support services to homeless individuals and families.

HUD spokesman Adam Glantz said they money will be for specific purposes.

In Catskill, Community Action of Greene County’s Supportive Housing Project for Victims of Domestic Violence will receive $29,900. In Hudson, the Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties’ Permanent Supportive Housing for Chronically Homeless and Mentally Ill will receive almost $57,000. In Kingston, Gateway Industries’ Disabled Parent with Child Supported Housing program will receive $59,000. And in Poughkeepsie, Hudson River Housing will receive $50,000 for its Noxon Street Housing.

The funding is part of a total of $12.6 million in new grants allocated to local homeless assistance programs in New York.
