Woman, who fled to West Coast after drug indictment, is arrested

SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties woman, who fled to California in May 2009 after being indicted in Ulster County on drug charges, has been arrested.

Police said Simone Arnold, 21, was charged with selling cocaine in the Kingston and Rosendale area one year ago. After being indicted by an Ulster County grand jury last year, she fled to California. She returned to New York and was taken into custody by the New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad during an unrelated warrant investigation.

Arnold was turned over to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and booked on a warrant charging her with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, intent to sell, both felonies.

She is being held in the Ulster County Jail without bail.

Police said she may face additional charges stemming from the drug sales investigation.
