Lost Connecticut hikers found on Appalachian Trail

BEEKMAN – Two Connecticut hikers, who got lost while on the Appalachian Trial somewhere in the towns of Beekman or Pawling, late Saturday afternoon, were found by searchers.

A 17-year-old female from Gaylordsville, CT and a 20-year-old male from Milford, CT were hiking on the trail and wound up on the wrong trail as dark was approaching.

They were able to contact Dutchess County 911 by cell phone and gave limited information on their location.

Two search teams with members of the sheriff’s office and fire departments searched the trails with the assistance of thermal imaging cameras, night vision and a K-9 team.

The youths were located uninjured on one of the trails about 1 ½ to two miles off the north side of Route 55 in the Town of Beekman and escorted out.
